Regardless of the place, dates, cultures and beliefs, the end of the year closure causes an effect of reflection and review of accounts that does not always find us with a positive balance and with numbers in blue.
When we face new 365 opportunities, we consider what we believe are the best strategies to face the new challenges; However, we often ask ourselves why the purposes of the beginning of the new year disappear into nothingness? Why do they have the quality of being somewhat volatile, so similar to the final elements of the periodic table? What if I start the New Year's goals with such enthusiasm, that momentum is not enough for me to achieve even a quarter of the proposed?
This period should be conducive rather than, before setting new goals, to stop and consciously, real, objective and focused, reflect on what we should and can do, but especially for what, how, when and the with what, and thus be able to start our route, tracing defined, prioritized and achievable objectives, which can guarantee a satisfactory closure that implies reaching the goals set.
In that same sense, this pre-planning time is pertinent to stop and review the achievements made during the year just concluded, self-recognize and verify the effectiveness of the strategies used and the possibility of their new application.
One of the most used tools - and with the best results - to achieve tangible and sustained results over time on what has not been achieved so far is to renew and refocus so that you can have the necessary preparation that allows you to take back the things you were working on and conclude them (or replace them and start new ones).
Regardless of each individual reality, there is good news, New Year's resolutions can be fulfilled and a practical strategy is to imagine this year as if you were planning a trip where you have the need to use a compass as a guide. The final goal would be the point to be reached in the long term, and the objectives would be the concrete actions to be carried out in a methodical way in the short and medium term.
In this way we would not be giving 'blind sticks', and what so far is only a great desire can be transformed into a motivational tool to achieve the projected objectives.
A first approach would be to determine what area of your life you want to improve, physical, emotional, mental or spiritual health; the familiar; your social, financial, business life, and choose one or several to start working on them following your compass, that is, the established goal, which will immediately generate that you know where you are going and set defined times to meet, assuming commitments to work with perseverance and avoid the emotion of the moment that motivates his determination. It is well known that human beings are able to achieve our purposes for two great reasons, to avoid pain and suffering, or to seek and prolong what causes us satisfaction and harmony, so it is vitally important to develop the plan in writing. defined and review the status of its implementation and compliance periodically.
The importance of being flexible during the process
It is healthy to remember that strategies and deadlines can be modified, but not goals. Within each of us there are strengths and areas to improve that at some point could be opportunities or threats to achieve our goals. Flexibility will allow us to identify what is outside that could become a barrier that can make you claudicate. If that situation comes, look again at your compass, refresh in your mind the reasons why you are on the road, and reread the map to renew your commitment and delivery. Omitting the establishment of your goals puts you at a very big risk: "Get anywhere" and that becomes a situation of vulnerability in aspects of your life that you decided to improve.
